Sometimes the introduction to new fish in the aquarium or poor maintainence can result in fish becoming ill with a variety of diseases or parasites such as ich or intestinal worms. Fish become weak and my die due to their immune systems trying to fight the problem. Medicated flakes take some of the stress off of the fishes system and aid in removing the disease and bringing the fishes immune system back up. Fish should be fed medicated flakes when a disease becomes apparent.
